Is it possible to hide your depression from your own family?

I have a friend who's depressed and I don't just mean sad like for real. And her family has no clue so is it possible when you're truly going through a depression to be able to keep it away from your family?

and sorry but she's not religious in any way.

Some families are more open, or sensitive, or whatever, than other families. Some families don't share, some don't notice, some don't care, some are in denial.

Maybe you could ask your parents or pastor for advice about how to handle this problem?

Thank you for understanding what depression is really like, and thank you for being a friend that cares.

Yes, if one is a good actor, or the family is not looking for it. One should not keep it from an otherwise loving and concerned family, because they can help.

Depression can result from pre-diabetes syndrome, or hypoglycemia or other endocrine imbalances. If possible, your friend should seek a doctor's care (then, if not due to endocrine imbalance, counseling). Depression does not have to be hidden and suffered through. It can be helped.

no you have to help her she cannot hide this! This is something that she has to work on faith helps alot tell her to be strong ther eis this great book to battle depression its called Rebooting defeating depression with the power of kabbalah technology for the soul by Yehuda Berg I read it and it's amazing and it helped me alot

I kept it from my family for months until I finally seeked help. You should help your friend, tell your parents. Do something, but understand that you can't completely help her, it's out of your control. Good luck, let's hope she gets better.

I kept it from my mom for over a year, it just depends on the family and how close they are, or how well the person is able to hide it.

It's possible, if they've been doing it for some time...i'm sure they are pretty good at hiding their feelings and emotions.
Then again, maybe the family doesn't want to see what is right in front of their eyes.....

I've kept it from my family for over 2 years now. So yea it is possible.
