How many Acupunture Sessions will I need before I am cured of Depression & Anxiety?

I am currently undergoing Acupuncture treatment for Depression & Anxiety. The Treatment is going ok, I seem to be really good then really bad, but have a lot of faith in Chinese Medicine so am bareing with it. I have currently had 6 sessions and have been great after some but bad after others. Can anybody advise how many treatments I will need to stabilize my moods, and to be free from Depression & Anxiety?

As things are getting better you should continue for at least another 6 sessions and then assess if you have improved even further; if you have then carry on, if your not it maybe that your accupunturist isnt the best and maybe you should consider seeing a different one.

Definately ask your current accupunturist about how much longer they think you may need.

From the sounds of things it seems to be helping you, if you have been depressed for a long time it may take quite a while for you moods to fully stabalise and you may continue to experiance mood swings for a while but this is just you body sorting itself out so dont worry.

The good news is that once your 100% well you probably wont relapse, especially if you have a 'top up' session every 6months or so after you finish your current treatment.

Please dont give up the treatment, chinese medicine is very powerful and much safer than conventional western treatments and more effective in the long run; so dont believe the sceptics who dont accept scientifically tested fact.

I wish you very success and hope you feel better soon. I had accupunture for a similar problem and it does work - just have faith

I would be very careful about relying exclusively on acupuncture for depression and anxiety.

If your acupuncturist also specialized in chinese herbal medicine, I would consult with him or her about adding this to your treatment regime. If he or she isn't qualified as a chinese herbalist, I would look for another acupuncturist.

Unlike acupuncturists, western naturopathic doctors use herbal medicines the effectiveness of which has been confirmed scientifically. Be sure to consult a licensed naturopathic physician who has graduated from an accredited medical school.

Two natural treatments that can be effective are passion flower and vitamin D. You can get sufficient vitamin D from sunshine during most of the year (you have to go outside and expose some of your skin, of course). In the winter you can supplement with capsules.

Finally, depression and anxiety, while triggered situationally, reflect a deep condition of your brain chemistry. Don't aim for perfection. Accept that you will have ups and downs. Failure to accept this will cause secondary reactive depression as you respond negatively to having a down day.

Your best long term treatment for depression is the development of creative work and hobbies. On down days you can turn your full attention to these (it will sometimes take a bit of self-talk) and your excitement will substitute for your negative mood.

suprisingly enough, getting pins stuck in you has no effect on physical or psychological conditions

if the placebo from quackupuncture (or homeoquackathy) is enough to cure your depression, it suggests you weren't seriously depressed in the first place, and that a bit of exercise would have done just as well

The mood swings might be showing that the treatment is going on well but I would do Homeopathy Treatment along with it to get to the core of the problem faster...
