Why is depression often worse in the morning? |
I suffer from severe depression which tends to be worse in the morning and improves as the day goes on. I just wondered why this is? Does anyone else find this happens? Hi, I have to agree with Darla. My depression is horrible and in the mornings it's worse, real bad. I can't work, because I literally can't get out of bed. I pull the covers over my head and just think, "no, no, this can't be happening, this can't be real, not again" i can say i seem to be the opposite. but maybe it depends on what time you actually wake up? i'm not a morning person, i sleep until the afternoon but i'm up all night. i don't sleep well, to put it simply, but mine always gets worse at night. just seems i have more time to sit and think, especially once everyone else has gone to bed at a more reasonable hour... Try to have something to look forward to after waking. Eg. a good cup of coffee, aim to read a cartoon from the internet. |
