Please give me ways to distract myself from depression?

ok well I've been suffering from depression and anxiety for years now and have self-injured quite a few times and have thoughts of death.but I know I'm most likely gonna always be like that but now when I should be happy 'cause I got a guy that loves me to death,I still have the thoughts of death and doubts and everything like that. Can you guys help me with ideas on how to stop this cycle once and for all?I want to get better for him and myself.I started having these thoughts at age 6 and I'm a teen now and I'm tired of feeling like this.I'm in counceling and my mom and dad refuse to get me meds

and it even affected my school performance and i'm thinking of dropping out to get a GED next year and going to a training school for a career

What is the reason your parents won't let you have antidepressants? Is it a religious reason? You didn't say how old you are, and that would help with the answer that you get. If your parents won't listen to you about medications have your therapist talk to your parents about seeing a psychiatrist for medications. This is a chronic condition that you have and it needs to be addressed by a psychiatrist. You have a mental illness that needs attention and soon before you do something that really hurts you. Good luck

take natural things like mug wort or St John's wort, seek Salvation become friends with the Lord and count each little blessing and thank God for it including meals

If your parents don't want to give you meds, you should respect their wishes. Try exercise. Thirty minutes of exercise (running, jogging, riding a bike, walking, etc) is the same as taking TWO anti-depressants. If you feel you don't have time to do thirty minutes, try breaking it up. Ten minutes here, ten minutes there, etc. Just make sure it adds up to thirty minutes. Don't over-exercise, though. That will just make you tired and more depressed! :(
As for ways to distract yourself, try reading. Or watching a movie. Make sure these things are happy, though. Don't watch depressing movies or read depressing books. In fact, if you want a recommendation, you should read "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day" by Winifred Watson. It was written in 1938 and is a classic. It is fun and cheerful and will have you laughing along with the characters. Good luck!!

i totaly understand how u feel my parents wont let me have therapy or any meds and i think u need to sit down and talk wit them tell them "i realy think i should take this it could help" and if they say no just say "i promise if it doesnt help ill stop it' tell them to give u chance and explain to them and maybe they will understand and decide to give it a chance i am depressed and my parents wont lett tak mds or therapy so i am trying to cope wit by self but u should talk to ur parets i am sure the will understand!!!

Meds can help but they change other things. I had one patient who was on anti-depressants. It really helped but after he started taking them, he sort of became immune to everything outside, kind of lethargic.

Ever thought of religion? I'm a buddhist and none of my family or parents are buddhist (I'm really the only one in my whole entire family). They can offer you some group support as well as an opportunity to exorcise your demons.

Personally I'm doing some repentance exercises and many of the depressing feelings that I've experienced have become less or disappeared, even though temptation hangs around. :(

have u ever tried prayer? it works for me.depression can bring u closer to evil spirits.prayer and faith in god over powers any evil spirit.just close your eyes and ask god ask and you shall receive
