I think I might have depression, but I also think I might just be moody. I really need a second opinion.?

I used to be suicidal when I was kind of little but my parents confronted me really strongly and scared me into lying and saying that I didn't mean it. From then on I just kind of lived with it, not being able to work up the nerve to kill myself. I was eight or nine then. Now I'm almost thirteen and suicide is totally not even an option for me anymore, because I've managed to convince myself that it'd cause too much pain for others and I'm not worth that many tears. The thing that really puzzles me though is that sometimes I feel totally normal, not sad at all. But when I do feel normal (like today) I get really anxious and suspicious that all my joy is about to end, so I'm poised to be sad. I've taken depression tests. They all told me I'm depressed. And I'm not really sad about anything, just my own worthlessness. And I still can't believe it's all real 'cuz whenI'm about to tell someone, I think "I don't feel so bad right now" and I chicken out. So please answer; I'm confused...

Suicidal thoughts do not arise out of nowhere. I suspect that you may be depressed. You are still a teenager, yet you need to grasp what is causing your depression and distress at an early age so that you can start treatment.
There may be certain things that are causing your depression that you may not feel comfortable talking about. However, you should try to console with someone, so try your best friend. It may be difficult for you to tell your parents since they did put an image to your suicidal thoughts when you were younger. If that doesn't work, call a crisis hotline and see if they could refer you to a local doctor.
I have been severely depressed since I was 14, and did not seek treatment until 21 because everyone said I would grow out of it. I am now seeing both a psychiatrist and psychologist for my depression. It is still 6 years later and I am still on a weekly basis with the doctors. Long term depression may be difficult to heal.
Your feelings of anxiety and worthlessness are signs. Do not ignore them. You may eventually grow out of it, but those feelings could come back to haunt you in your later years.
Pls talk to someone...anyone about your feelings. Good luck.

it happen the same to me when i was 17 and yes it was depression, but i did end up in the hospital and 3 days in the mental hospital. That's when i realize that life is worth more. I think that maybe you have some but not all depression. Since you have a Good life you should try going out and having fun lots of fun and then all the bad actions will go away.

Start eating healthier, go on walks, and get plenty of sleep. After a week or so you will start feeling much better.

And if you keep up the walking and eating healthy, your overall appearance will boost as well, in turn making you feel better about your self and making you into a happier person. We all have our bad days, but if you are an active individual you will find that those bad days will be minimized.

You need to talk to your doctor, not a bunch of strangers on the Internet. Tell your doctor what you have told us, and try to get a referral to a therapist. People who are clinically depressed don't need reasons to be depressed, but they do heed to get help.

It seems to me like you are depressed. Have you ever researched Bipolar. Talking about your highs and lows can be a red flag for it. Heres a website that explains it

Toughen up and grow a pair. We all have problems and we all had a shitty childhood. I bet you some of the people answering this question of yours here have had it a whole lot worse than you. Suck it up, that's life. We all deal with it, you can too.

well it may just be a part of growing up. at you're age anything can happen. you sound smart for a 13 year old though.

dude u are gong through ur teenage stages we all feel this at times but thats life its a b*tch sometimes look on the bright side of life and just be a happy person :)

hope this helps man

There could be several factors that why are you feeling this way, maybe you're experience some days at a blue mood or you are having some changes in the way you think, feel because of your teenager life, like everybody has been in the past, it's normal to feel a bit sad or I don't want to talk to everybody once in a while, that will help by resolve your own fears or decision by yourself and remember we are humans and as
humans we need people to have a relationship of a any kind.

However you should talk to your folks, friends or any older person in family in whom you trust or with whom you have a connection or you feel that person is similar to you and explain how you feel. This works, It's guaranteed.

The human mind is very strong, so just be careful.
Enjoy Life at the max but don't throw away the caution.

I Used To Be Exactly The Same, To Answer Your Question Yes You Are Depressed.
I Found It Really Hard To Tell Anybody When I Was Depressed Coz I Had No Real Reason To Be Depressed And I Felt People Would Think It Was Being Stupid Or Trying To Get Attention.
But I Suppose The Best Thing To Do Would Be Tell Someone, I Think Its Easier To Tell A Close Friend Other Than A Parent. When I Was Depressed I Spoke To My Friend And Realised She Was Feeling Exactly The Same As Me. Its Much More Common Than You Think, So Just Tell Someone That You Know Wont Judge You.
