Is amphetamine good for severe depression because despite numerous medications its the only thing that helps?

Who cares if its addictive or dangerous if the alternative is probable suicide. So why wont they presribe it for me?

Dan and Spam miss the point. Particularly Dan who should be struck off for his "Im alright Jack" stupidity. The point is I would love to have a regular speed comedown...theyre so much lighter than in mood than my deepseated depression. Spam and Nuff said, can you begin to understand my quest... there is no long term or tomorrow when u feel like this and I was depressed when I was an infant it has little to do with amphetamine use.
Those with the neuro transmitter replies...THANKYOU...I know about them already and for somebody with moderate depression you are correct and you mean well. THANKS AGAIN.
But the point is that amphetamine is the only thing that stops me feeling like Death Not Even Warmed Up so "tomorrow" is unlikely to survive in my life anyway. I think speed is a very very bad drug for most people. Even terrible for me. But when it is the only drug that makes life tolerable on a short or long term basis I still seek an answer after numerous yrs of failed meds and therapy

I take ephedrine for severe depression. It is not good for your hart and when you mix it with other stuff it can be fatal. It is available from Europe bud word of advice; you have to do exorcise everyday for no less than an hour for your body to process it.
I have been taking ephedrine for 15 years. It helps for depression if you remember to still eat, do exorcise and you going to need a oil supplement and vita B. There is lots of info on the net about ephedrine. Don't just stuff pills down your mouth, learn about the course of your problem and to self medicate can be risky. No one knows I take ephedrine bud when you tell someone you sad for no reason, they don't give a ****. Try finding a time re leas tablet.
Good luck

Not really. the paradoxical effect of amphetamines is they degrade the bodies ability to transmit those neurotransmitters that are for the "sense of well being" in particular seratonin and dopamine the transmitters that are important to keep depression at bay.

If your depression is severe, even short term use of amphetamine can increase the suicidal/homocidal ideation because of depletion of neurotransmitters, and reduced impulse control.

Go to a doctor, and get real help. If you have serious depression there are quick acting antidepressants and mood stabilizer that won't be detrimental.

there is no known cure for depression, stimulanants are a bad idea. They may cause mania and on the come down more severe depression, similar to bipolar disorder. I suffer with depression myself and 6months ago decided not to take any meds at all. I was on SSRI's and research shows that they have an EQUAL effect than placebo's. They do not know what causes depression (THERE IS NO PROVEN 'CHEMICAL INBALANCE') People talk about the imbalance but it is not proven to be the causing factor in depression. Therefore it is unethical to suggest that anti depressants work. Studies show that placebos have the same effect, which means you could take a vitamin pill but if you believed it would make your depression cure its self then it would work. My point is pretty general to you, the only cure for depression is to change what makes you unhappy. Depression is allways caused by personal circumstances, you may not know why you are depressed...i didnt! But if you look inside yourself you will find an answer, then you can deal with the problem and move on. Speaking and talking and most importantly dealing with your problems is the ONLY cure. Take little steps day by day and you will get better i promise. Dont put too much pressure on yourself and set yourself up for failure. I never left my house for weeks at a time, i started by walking the dog with my partner, then on my own, then i'd walk somewhere to meet someone and socialise etc etc...kinda slow and steady. Good luck!

amphetamine is not used to treat depression, only ADHD or narcolepsy. It has an increased risk of suicide. make sure you are going to a psychologist and they should be able to help, but it takes several weeks for most of the antidepressants to kick in, so don't give up, and some things work for some people and not others

amphetamines will just mess you up. The truth today is that people do not realize that the more they focus on themselves the more depressed they become, because when you focus on yourself it is the problems you see. We are all full of problems and defects, our purpose here on this earth is to screw up because it is the only way we ever learn anything. Through suffering because of the mistakes we make. Take the focus in your life off yourself and your problems. Help someone who has it worse than you do, and your perspective will change immediately.

Short-term pay off with long-term big price. It masks symptoms while making the problem worse. That pretty much sums it up. Get a psychiatrist instead of a regular doc. There are many types of antidepressants, probably more than you realize. Also, there is a med called Provigil that isn't speed but works a little like it. If you absolutely have to go there, it's much safer.

it messes up the chemicals in your brain, trust me. you'll start getting paranoid and begin seeing/hearing things that arent there.you'll get really addicted and it'll make you ugly, unhealthy, and MORE mentally unstable.

My advice: start spending an hour a day walking or running or swimming or dancing.... and find some good hobbies to consume your time. paint, draw, guitar, read, play games, etc.

no its not, you might find its ok while you are on the high, but its the come down thats the worse and thats what causes the depression , so its a vicious circle really, amphetamines are bad news.

Yes, doing lots of speed and base is going to be very good for you, especially your heart.

if thats what your taking then thats whats causing your depression.(who gets high must come down)!!!!

?? sarcasm is too thin if it's there.

2 words: long term
