Permanent solution to depression??

Look, heres the deal. Any solution I have found for depression has worked. Every solution has been temporary with a worse relapse into depression. Im at the point right now where every action I take when Im alone is unhealthy and unproductive. I have no desire to do anything good for me. Ive given up. Its really strange, I seem to want to hurt myself. No solution has ever lasted though.........the depression keeps it from lasting. It kind of like AIDS of the mind (not really but hear me out). It eats away at the immune system which fights the disease. My depression eats away at my motivation and my will to live which cause me to stop any solution I try. What can I do?
Im searching for answers on the internet, hoping that something incredible will come of it. Very pathetic, I know, but what else can I do really. Ive tried so many things.

You have chronic depression. There is no cure. Antidepressants TREAT the problem. Meds such as Prozac are of great help to some, but you have to take them daily, otherwise your depression will reappear.

Li's answer is very good, I think: meds possibly and a therapist. What I have found that als helps is helping someone else who is worse off than you -- like volunteering to tutor kids or work in a soup kitchen or build a house.

Have you tried ECT's? They work for the long haul.

Have you seen a psychiatrist who specializes in mood disorders? One who knows antidepressants beyond SSRIs and SNRIs? There are tricyclics and MAOIs. For those who run into antidepressant poop out, supplementing with Lithium or taking the mood stabilizer Lamictal often is the answer. There are Parkinson's meds and supplementing your T3 thyroid hormone. There are a couple of the newest antipsychotics (just a drug class name, don't jump to conclusions). I was diagnosed with bipolar later in life. I take meds with names I never thought I would. They work. I am grateful. There are many, many options, but you need to be working with the right type of doctor.

The other is whether you have worked with a good therapist and hung in there for a year or two, ya know, thru the hard parts. If not, shop for one that your gut says is not a flake and that you can grow to trust.

You have lots of options. You just need to reach out to the right places.

the only solution that is free is basically you... im anti anything doing with disorders because i don't believe in them... but still hear me out.. for example.. they say i have ADD and ADHD but i don' t believe it... if i concentrate more then no more ADD, if i calm myself down no more ADHD

for you its depression... lots of sadness, and suicide thoughts, and other things

well what is causing the depression... if its self esteem, a divorce, wanting control and getting nothing... you should change it

if you know what is causing it give me a chance and i might be able to help or at least guide you in the right direction... but its up to you... wanna be happy make yourself happy (not talking about masturbation) what used to make you happy try it... face your fears... whatever is bothering you don't let it control you.... you should control it... your not a pet... your the owner (weird metaphor or w/e but still)

i hope this sort of helps

if it doesn't then look for a good therapist that deals with dealing with the issue and not trying to help you escape from it

thats what the drugs(illegal or legal are
