Question about depression? opinions plz!? |
hey well i finally went to see a therapist after being depressed for about a year and a half. The reason i became depressed was over a break up and some not healthy friendships. now almost 2 years later im still suffering from the pain of these old relationships along with depression and low self esteem. The therapist says i probably have an imbalance of chemicals in my brain that wont allow me to get over this and finally heal. she reccomends i go on antidepressants to get the push i need. do you think she could be right? that i havent gotten over tha past because of an imbalance of chemicals? thanx in advance! If possible, go through behavioral modification therapy before resorting to pills. If you start taking prescription drugs, you'll become dependent on them to rid you of your depression, when really a lot of times, all it takes is a different way of thinking to make yourself feel better. I have a friend who has been on antidepressants since early high school and she hates taking them. They can alter your moods and your personality, which may actually be worse than the depression itself. there are natural ways to heal without chemicals. Walking is more effective in the long run then pills. Its a proven fact. You have to change the way u think about yourself. You have to start loving yourself more, YOu cant feel loved unless u first love yourself. Diet is also good. cut out sugar and caffiene along with processed foods. eat meat vegs and fruits. Also add b complex vitamins and a multi vitamin. Just making little small steps to help yourself will make u feel better. Remember u are not alone. Others suffer with the same thing. I have depression, and the antidepressents helped me a lot. She probably is right. She's a therapist, and is trained to deal with this kinda thing. people quickly prescribe meds but it is your choice. you could go on them or you could try to heal on your own. and the meds could make you weird anyway. they ahve a lot of side effects |
