Mono? Depression? Exhaustion? Diagnose me!?

So, after a high school reunion, I came down with a bacterial infection in my throat (white spots, etc). I was put on antibiotics, which I didn't want to do because my body hates them (yeast infections, spotting, yay!)

Well my throat is always a little tempermental, but its still slightly sore, and I am absolutely EXHAUSTED. I seriously could sleep all day. I'm a big bookworm and I can only get a few pages in without zonking out. I don't have a fever or a headache, and I have a very big appetite.

I have an appointment with my doctor next week. Does this sound like mono?

I should also mention I've been under an insane amount of stress (my dad was recently hospitalized for the 4th time this year with severe depression and I'm the only family member, relationship possibly ending after 8 years).

Thanks in advance. :)

Maria r, I have done tons of research on both the medication I received as well as my symptoms. The last thing I need right now is for someone to be condescending. I was being a very informed consumer. I've been to 3 doctors for my throat issues, and they started with all my stress.

Furthermore, I have just looked up information on Sepsis, and since I didn't have strep when I was diagnosed, why would you assume it could even possibly be this?

Sorry, I don't know, but I just wanted to say I felt really sorry for you.

Hope you and your father get better soon!

Well i have had mono before and you're incredibly tired when you have it and yes your throat is very sore. But people are all different. Maybe and i don't know but maybe you're just stressed because of your dad being hospitalized. It's not depression but i would go to your doctor just in case.

Why would you think of mono when you were diagnosed with, well you called it a bacterial infection, it was probably a strep bacterial infection which causes the white spots in your throat. You are probably still not better. Streptococcus is a mean bacteria and today difficult to get rid of because antibiotics are not as effective from overuse. Ask the doctor to culture your throat and see what antibiotics are effective for your particular "bacteria". I do not know your age but please be a responsible consumer, know your illness - what to expect and why you are taking the drug you are given as well as those side effects. "KNOW" your diagnosis! The new killer is a simple sore throat. Look up "Sepsis" Septic Septicemia) in a medical resource. After that give it lots of time like a few months, to recuperate. Good luck.
