Anorexia/Depression?

Okay, so I have this friend, lets call her anna, and since about 3 months ago she started eating less. She was chubby-ish, and today at school, everyone was commenting on how much skinnier she was. Sure she doesn't quite have the frail bones sticking out look but she is definitely skinny. She also started smoking and doing marijuana in the last few weeks. She seems depressed, also my best friend, lets call her lucy, has gotten into a fight with her. It seems like she is pushing all her friends away, I am very concerned about her, and I know that she has problems but I have no idea what to do, to talk to someone who will talk to her parents, to talk to her about it personally, though she is quite arrogant, and probably will not listen to us . Also I have no idea what has sparked her depression. She lives in a nice apartment close to me in the UES, and she was not actually fat just a bit plump.

Help what do I do I'm so confused?

Also, as forgot to mention, her home/family life is fine too, she has two parentsthat are still together, no one bullies her.

People develop eating disorders for all kinds of reasons, which are often not easy for others to spot.
Just because everything seems 'fine' it doesn't mean it is.

As a friend the best thing you can do is try to talk to her, or write her a letter highlighting your concern if you don't feel able to bring up the subject verbally.

Even if she doesn't appear to 'listen' to what you have to say, it is still worth having a go, and perhaps point her in the direction of sources of support, such as the school nurse or a local counselling service.

She is lucky to have a friend like you who cares. She may not look visibly unwell as yet, but it is best to tackle the problem before it gets to that stage.

I wish you all the best.

mediocre lives do that to a person.

I guess she feels out of control, that usually triggers anorexia in combination with using drugs.
I guess you should get somebody to talk to her parents first -maybe you should do it yourself, I don't know how well you know her and if you know her parents, that depends-
they can maybe handle this situation and if not, they can get help from a doctor.
if people still confront her with the fact that she looks so skinny lately, get her away from the attention. it might be negative attention she's getting, but it is attention and that's probably what she's seeking. so try to keep her away from that or it will get worse quickly.
