Depression denial?

I come from a culture that does not recognize depression as an illness, so i do not know if i am depressed or not. Lately, i've been having sleepless nights and poor appetite. i'm just about to start a divorce from my wife of 5 years, because she lied to me about her medical condition, (and many other reasons)and she was recently diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder. she also suffers from extreme anxiety and extreme depression. I've been sad through out my marriage, but now that we are separating, i am feeling happy, but there is this dark cloud that lingers within me. We have no children and we have agreed to split everything 50/50. Do i have depression? Did i inherit it from her, and is there someone i can talk to? You gotta understand this is so hard for me to admit, and i have to be absolutely sure i have it because i'm in denial.

First, you didn't inherit any sort of problem from her. They aren't contagious.

Second, it sounds more like you are upset by the fact that your marriage is ending which is totally normal. It will go away eventually. It's when it rules your life and all you feel is sad that there's a problem. Everyone feels sad about things sometimes.

Feeling anguish and sadness over something is not the same as depression. If it still the same in several months then see a doctor otherwise see it through.
Divorce is veryn stressful

You are in denial. You will get over it. you are just angry.
