Depression and my period?

For the past couple days I've been super sensitive and sad about pretty much everything. Last night while going to bed it got so bad that I started to get an anxiety attack. I was so upset I basically cried myself to sleep. This morning I woke up and noticed I had started my period. I'm on medication for anxiety but last night I thought I was going crazy! I've been on the birth control Femcon for about 3months now. I know I've always gotten "blue" before starting my period but this was just way too much. I also got my period a week early so I had no intuition that it was about to start. How do women deal with such extreme PMS? Are there any medications/supplements out there that help lessen the effects of PMS?Any tips or helpful advice would be appreciated.

GiGi is talking about yaz...............sometimes PMS hits harder than others............some months i have very slight symptoms and others im about to put myself into a mental hospital........i take a valium for it but i guess you already take something like that.....id askyour DR if you can switch to Yaz...

i think there is a new birth control pill that is supposed to lessen the effects of pms and pmdd. i forget the name of it now, but i see the commercial for it all the time. ask your doctor if it may be better to switch pills.

See your Doctor as it may be a side effedt of the femcon... combined with your normal monthly pms its could be making you ill. Its worth checking out. Good luck

well of course combination of contraceptions and PMS will cause a drama, i usually become very depressed and anxious around my period i cry and i even pick up fights. but than i learnt my body ; i don't like medications but if i need to cry,i cry so what ! big deal, just when you feel anxiuos or depressed first question to ask :is it the time of my period? if it yes and you know that you are PMSing than at least you know the cause and you don't need to worry much. we got depressed due to low estrogen level when we shed the egg, and the contraceptives lower the estrogen level two, so i really don't think you need to get any medication to ulter your hormones, you can't just play with your body the way you please, on the contrary as i do, get angry and shout on everybody turn to a drama queen and than blame it on your period, that can be fun!!!
