Alternative medicine for depression??

does anyone know any alternative medicines for depression, im sick of pumping chemicals into my body, and they dont work anyway!!

st johns wort & evening primrose oil

Try taking Higher Nature's Serotone 5HTP as this raises serotonin levels. Start on a low dose and raise it if necessary. Also, take a B complex (ideally Solgar's) to give broad emotional help. This is best taken in the morning. Try exercising and eating correctly for your blood type - weird as it sounds, it works! I exercise correctly for Type O (my blood type) and have cured myself of depression. But examine if there are any life changes you need to make too. Try reading some inspirational literature like Awaken the Giant Within by Anthony Robbins to keep positive or attending positive groups - perhaps a choir or a writing group.

Exercise, good quality food and a decent night sleep.

It has been proven that a good diet can help eleviate depression. John Wort's should only be taken on the advice of your GP as not everyone is suited to herbal remedies.

That being said all of the above can compliment the effects of prescription drugs...allowing you to be weaned off of these drugs sooner rather than later.

Never ever just stop taking your medication..always ask your doctor for a tapered approach if you wish to come off of them.

I used St Johns' Wort, and it seemed to do the job with me; although I don't know if that was psychosomatic or not.
Several friends of mine said that it had worked for them too, however.
Watch out for the chemicals, they can create a) dependancies, and b) other problems (side effects, etc)

Hope everything works out, pal :-|

Meditiation...I second that. Exercise is good too.

You could try acupuncture.

I hear you about the chemicals. My sister is on a bunch of meds for depression and you gotta wonder if its doing more harm than good?

Good for you for seeking alternatives.

Mindsoothe helped me. It has St John's Wort and Passiflora. I listed the website, if you want to check it out. Good Luck.

* I have not taken it in a year as I felt stabilized but with recent events, ordering some more

please try this,it really helped me to solve my problem
