Help - about depression medicines?

This is my 3rd day of taking the Seroxat. Im worrying it after i notice that this drug isnt good & make peoples addictive to it & cant get rid off or stop or what ever. What should i do now? I want to stop & try taking back my previous Lexapro which is a new medicine to replace Seroxat with less side effect in it.

This medication is the same as Paxil. I tried to take it but ended up with suicidal thoughts. This is some information I found for a family member who was going to take it.
Here is something I cut & pasted from the "Wikipedia".

Paroxetine (Seroxat, Paxil, Parotin, Aropax, Xetanor, ParoMerck, Rexetin) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. It was released in 1992 by the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline. In 2006 it was the fifth-most prescribed antidepressant in the United States retail market, with more than 19.7 million prescriptions.[1] The prescription of this drug is controversial because of side effects such as suicidal ideation (thoughts of suicide) and withdrawal syndrome which have resulted in legal proceedings against the manufacturer.

I am not a doctor and your doctor knows you best, however you know your body better than anyone. With that, be your own advocate. If you do not like it and it is not working for you, find something else. There are hundreds of them out there. Many have been on the market for 50 years.
As you research this on the internet, take the information you read about the pharmaceutical company to your doctor. He may not know about the problems with the drug.
Good luck. Hope this helps.
Oh I almost forgot, when I tried Lexapro, I felt fine and I did not have any side effects when getting off the medication.

Seroxat is basically as safe as any of them. It's just Paxil, which has no more side effects than any of the others.
If you try to discontinue any antidepressant you are going to have problems unless you taper off. Sometimes it's hard even if you taper off.
I use Effexor XR and really like it but if I miss a day I have like "electrical" jolts in my finger tips and stuff. They all have things you have to watch for, you just have to choose what is best for you.

This is too important to muck around with, I suggest you go and see a doctor ASAP, if you go off your medication without doing it by the right procedure, you can make yourself sicker. Also you are only onto your 3rd day, and depending on your dosage, I suggest you give it time, as all meds are different and depends on the individual on what will happen to you. Please seek doctors advice.

I used to be on Lexapro... it worked for me until i lost my health insurance... as far as I know there is no generic form of Lexapro. If you notice that a drug has a bad rep talk to the doctor that prescribed it and voice your concerns.. they will work with you and help you find the best choice.

Do not make medication changes without contacting your physician. There are side effects and risks with all medication, so discuss what your concerns or fears are with your doctor and let him or her help you decide what the best medication is for you.

All medications take some time... sometimes up to 6 weeks to work for depression... three days isn't enough time.

Contact your physician, you are paying him/her for their professional advice , so use it.

Good luck,

Tex

well go back to lexapro its more expensive and i know that you can get generic one and its ok i take it.
