Lets forget depression?

Lets forget the Depression part of a person with Bipolar Disorder and other mood disorders and say that he got only Mania all the time. So what kind of disease a psychiatrist will say he has like Schizophrenia, Delusional Disorder, Paranoidal Syndrome etc?

Schizophrenia seems to be in now a days >.<"

j/k uhm it would probably be considered a paranoidal sydrome or borderline personality disorder if said being had/has a past with alcohol

Hmmm, that's a good question! Probably just mania? I'm not aware of any actual disorders which just have mania as a symptom...

Wouldn't be schizophrenia, because they'd have to have psychosis or delusions. Mania is not necessarily psychosis, though bipolar patients can get psychosis.

Unless they're paranoid, it wouldn't be a disorder with paranoia as a major symptom. Mania does not usually include paranoia. They usually think they're more along the lines of "invincible" during these episodes.

And I disagree with the first answerer - it definitely wouldn't be borderline personality disorder. These patients know more than their share of depression and rage! And I've never heard of mania in BPD. They can be hyper, they can be impulsive, but I don't think they get to an actual manic state. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

As to what it /is/... well, I'm afraid I'm not quite sure! I would go with just mania, though, as I haven't come across any disorders with only mania as a major symptom. Good question!

That would be just mania then.

Honestly, I'm sick of everyone acting like mental health issues are like bacteria. All brains work differently, and labels just add to the bureaucracy and stigma. Even having mania all the time doesn't mean its a disorder. Its only a disorder if it actually prevents someone from accomplishing the regular activity that they want to.

A psychiatrist will say whatever gets the guy to come back.
