Depression, panic disorder & antidressents, help!!!!!!!!!!? |
has anyone every got over depression and panic disorder? or am i totally ******! i started on 20mg a day, then went up to 30mg a day, now im on 40mg a day! i've only ever took cipramil and never changed to any other antidressents. is it true that they only work for so long and then u relaspes! somebody please give me advice or something. Oh my gosh honey, you're totally normal! I had to up my dosage on my antidepressants as well because I felt that they weren't doing anything for me, and sometimes, I felt that they had an adverse effect! Don't be afraid of upping your dosage, and remember, you're doing this to help yourself. If upping your dosage doesn't work, you may need to look into switching medications. Talk to your doctor about how you feel, and see what she/he thinks is the best option. Also, never forget that antidepressants help calm you, but they aren't the be all and end all. You're so much stronger than you think! Trust me, I know how the feelings can become so intense and all-consuming, but in those moments, you have to use everything inside of you to understand that you're bigger than your disorder. When an attack hits, I draw, do a crossword of word find, colour. or squeeze a stress ball to advert my attention. Also, I sometimes write down all the things I don't like about myself, and when I'm finished, I tear them up, and write down all the things I do like. I keep that list, and I review it afterwards as a reminder of how strong I am, and that I am in fact, a good person. You may also want to look into counseling, as they can teach you different tools and methods to deal with anxiety. I still suffer on a regular basis, but now I recognize that I'm able to deal with it, and although it will never really go away, I'll be able to embrace it. I wish you the best of luck. Remember, you're so strong! You really are. Keep in touch, okay? ok ok, first, i must say...calm down, the first step to overcoming these problems...is to take life easy. Don't be so serious or stressed about every thing, ok. Taking meds is the first step towards recovery/restabilization. The second step is to figure out what's going on and why, which can only be done through therapy or counseling. Many people think meds will "heal" or "cure" them. Nope. It is the combination of meds and therapy that has proven time after time to be more successful in a client achieving improvement and recovery. Do the meds, but definitely do the therapy part, too. You will be so very happy that you did. In six months, you'll look back and see how far you've come. Good luck! you can have a relpase like im having right now but continue takin the meds no matter what practice coping skills.. mail me back and i will help you |
