How do others handle DEPRESSION ???

I have a disease called Fibromyalgia-It has made me a mental mess.I see a psychiatrist
once a month and she's great take effexor xr 150 daily as it helps with chemicals in the brain.I try to do as much as I can without hurting to much.I also get the seek & find books as it takes my mind off of things. I also started a garden with squash, lettuce,peppers,radishes,scallions really cute .Then sometimes I just play on-line, and thank God that thinks aren''t any worse.!! I also say a prayer every night for people I don't know who are sicker than me, makes me feel somewhat better.

I would suggest going to see a therapist if your depression is really bad, but otherwise try something like aroma therapy if you can't afford a therapist. Also, try anything with Omega-3, a fatty acid for the brain, it boosts your happiness and anything like fish and seafood have it in them, especially cod and salmon. I'm not a freaky hippy if that's what you think! It's just I don't think everyone with depression should resort to using Px pills to solve it, only if it's suicidal.

I handle it by a little bit of meds and a little of nothing when I'm getting depressed and doing something about it. It will take time to learn your triggers and when you are getting depressed. when you know that you are getting depressed then you do the opposite of what you want to do. Like you what to sleep all day then you get up and ex cerise or do something. You went to be a couch potato you get up and do something. These will help you get out of your depression. I hope this helps.

i do alot of yoga and meditating to relax myself and get a peace of mind thing going. i was on medication but it just made me feel worse. i also try to go to the gym on a regular basis because it realeases endorphones which make me feel happy, also it makes me feel like iv accomplished something. also try watching a really funny movie your mood will lighten for a bit. if it all gets too serious and you feel like to cant cope do speak to someone professional. everyones different and different things work for different people. hope this helped a bit.

I have severe depression and bipolar type 2 rapid cycler and I try to stay as positive as possible. I focus on what makes me happy in my life like my 5 children and my husband... Sure there are things that really bring me down, but that's when I have to force myself to think happy thoughts. I know that sounds stupid but it works. I'm in nursing school and it can really be stressful and there are days that I think I can't do it anymore, I will then go for a walk when the sun is out, listen to music that I enjoy, and this sounds corney, but I buy a bouquet of fresh flowers every week... That to me brings in sunshine and freshness into my home and just gives me an overall "feel good" feeling. I also like to spend some alone time doing something for just me - like going to Starbucks for a coffee and just sitting and watching to world of people. I take medications and go for therapy once a week.
This combination has helped me feel better.
I have chronic depression but I am doing OK at this time.

coping skills count my blessings and help others with depression
