I am suffering from depression like very after hour I usually get negative thoughts or feel trapped or stupid.

I only see dark side of life. How anyone got idea to turn my life around? I am only 30 year old?

When you suffer from depression, don't give in to your emotions. For example, don't listen to depressing music.
Watch funny movies, no drama, or maybe some non-stop action. It should help you take your mind off things.

You must see your doctor, who can offer you counselling and medication (should you choose to use medication, I know some people are scared of taking them, but they are there to help).

Also try and get to the route of your problem, is there anything making you feel negative or trapped?

If you have a good friend who you can trust and will listen, this is usually excellent therapy.

The fact that you hav noticed you have depression and want to do something about it is a huge step forward in the right direction.

Hope this has been of help, get well soon x

Well, since you have a "spark of interest" of actually wanting to turn your life around -- there is hope. I would recommend changing your way of thinking. Negative only breeds negative -- trust me, I come from a long family of negative thinkers! But, always remember garbage in = garbage out. Find a hobby, something positive...get better and better at it and then use it to transform your life. The clock is ticking, do you want to sitting there years from now -- regretting you didn't do this or do that? I'm 27, and I believe 30 is still young! Get up, get out, and do something. The world is full of negative, but the truth is -- being positive brings about positive occurances in your life. Dare to be positive and see the light and you will never be in the dark. Everyone gets down - but the question is, are you gonna stay down? or are you gonna pick yourself up?

Put on a good song, stand in front of the mirror in your bedroom or bathroom, and repeat these words: "Today is the day I will conquer it all" "Today is the first day of the rest of my life" "Today I remove this negative and live in the positive" "I am, I can, I will be a better me!" (Flip the switch - come into the light, today you're alive dude!...Today you're ALIVE!" Good Luck!

I felt like this, constantly, and I still do in splashes.

I consulted my GP, and she recommended I see a cognitive behaviour therapist to help with my thoughts and feelings.

I think the first step is the hardest and that's admitting you have a problem, I would suggest visiting your GP, they may be able to give you more professional advice, and point you in the direction of a therapist or counsellor who will be able to help you mentally.

If that's not of interest to you, exercise and a change in diet can help to lift depressive thoughts, a healthier diet leads to a healthier mind, as they say. Also, try to keep yourself busy, the more you're doing, the less chance you have to be by yourself and to wallow in your depressive and negative thoughts.

I agree with cody. Its important to take control of your thoughts. I to have depression tendencies, I get down on myself and withdraw from any social activity which I know is the worst to do. Before talking to your doc, try other PROVEN therapies like Acupuncture, yoga, Ti chi, and massage. theses therapies have been around, and working for people 3000 years before the pharmaceutical revolution.

You should speak to your doctor about this. Depression is a chemical imbalance and can be cured with the right medicine such as Zoloft. It works wonders and has very little, if any, side effects. It needs to be in your system for a few weeks before it starts working, but one morning you will wake up and the world will be a pleasant place again. Good luck to you!

Try Hypnotherapy, can be very effective for depression if that is indeed what it is :)

Know that lots of people are there for you (including everyone on Yahoo Answers)

If absolutely necessary then I suppose allow a GP to prescribe medication, though I'd reccomend keeping away from it uness all else fails, which I'm sure it won't!

Good luck mate :)

you need some friends around you,
maybe join a social club ..
get some new hobbies ,
and meet some people ,
socialise..
go to a club / pub
outdoor activites.. rather than being indoors
