I have to beat this depression -- What is the least expensive, most exciting adventure you can come up with?

Maybe I could take the bus somewhere...? I live on Vancouver Island, BC.

There's a Zip Line in Whistler Vancouver where you can ride the line through the trees...

If you can do that, then you can beat anything! d=)

I'm struggling with the same thing. My solution is always to "go feel the wind blow through the holes in my head." When I'm bummed out and can't quit thinking about it, I go do something "windy" like flying a plane, riding a motorcycle, sky diving, climbing a mountain or glacier, speed boating, down hill skiing, bicycling or even just running...anything "windy" that requires some concentration and forces you to stay in present time. Running isn't quite enough for me because I day dream while I'm running and that may defeat the purpose of keeping my mind focused. Maybe running while working math problems in my mind but...nahhh...

I've found that most depression is caused by either looking back in time and dwelling on it or contemplating a difficult future. If you do something that requires that you concentrate on the here and now and feel the air hitting your body, it will wash away depression and leave you with an adrenaline rush that is a natural high.

I love to fly airplanes so I'd rather pay $200 for renting an airplane than $1000 dollars on worthless shrink fees. I always feel better and more balanced and stable after an early morning flight. There's something fantastic with feeling at one with a powerful machine and concentrating on it completely. Maybe you can find something like that to do when things bum you out.

Get outside and feel the wind blow through the holes in your head. It will cure what ails you!!!

Get a credit card and go to Scotland. Look up MacBackpackers and roll around with them on the bus through the highlands (cheap, and cheap bed at night). All younger people, I guarantee the tragic history of that country and the beauty that still exists will change your life. If you have time try to stay on and work at one of the hostels for room and board. Maybe not the most realistic, but it's something that could be planned soon... I met a lot of Canadians there even. Get a passport and a piece of plastic, your life will change I promise.

Hmmm I wish I knew myself. Maybe take the bus, see where it takes you. Just go somewhere new and see what's there. Maybe try and make it into a project. Like, if you're into photography, go somewhere new and take pictures of what really catches your eye. That way, you're doing something new and something that focuses your mind. I don't really know though, I wish I did.

This has to be something that you come up with. Depression is a serious issue and the best thing is to try and spend alot of time with friends and try to focus on hobbies. If your feeling depressed talk to friends but talk to family about this too. Your a short boat ride from Van City. There is always so much fun to have in life, the key is to be around people.

I've been through this. Do you think your feeling of depression is temporary? Does it recur? What triggers it?

I'm not a psychologist or a psychiatrist. In 2002, I decided to control my mental state of being instead of the other way around. I learned a lot in the process. Knowing the causes and the triggers will do more for anyone than a trip that is, of course, temporal in nature.

If you really wanted to take a trip, why don't you lose yourself in your island? Seriously. I've been there and wish I could've been able to stay longer. Re-visit the places you've taken for granted. Think. Read. Pray. I hope this helps.

Hop a bus or train down to San Francisco. Stay in a cheap motel off of a BART stop in say Alameda or Fremont. It'll take you around an hour to get to the heart of the city and you'll need to be on your way out by 2:00 a.m. but it's much more affordable than trying to stay in the city. Berkeley always is an interesting side tour, too. If too expensive, the ride thru the woods sounds pretty cool!

ok so you feel down so do something mad something you have never done before be it playing the violin to walking the vancouver suspention bridge i would put my money on an absail its an adrenilin rush and you will meet new people while pushing yourself there for leading to and out let of endorfines mading you feel confident, outragouse and happy best of luck and dont for get your well loved.xx

I live in Ontario, Canada ^_^. Anyways drive somewhere simi far from your place, some where you havn't been. At lest an hour away. Then go bike riding, cannoing, camping, hiking, rock climbing. Do somthing you enjoyed doing before, or do somthing new that seems intresting.
Goodluck and happy trails.

well im not really sure how everything is there...
but my friends and i go cardboard surfing.
its amazing!
you get cardboard boxes and break them down..
then go to a hill and slide.
its actually rather amusing seeing your friends fall and eat ****. i like to take lots of pictures!!!

white water rafting, amusement parks, skydiving, though it is expensive. These things will all get you out of your depression!

Committing your life to Christ. It isn't expensive.

What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul?

Biking or walking are good exercises which release endorphins that help a person feel good.

MONGOL RALLY 2008

Hiking

get a road bike and go ride along time on the open road or your local bike trail it always helps me

You could eat at Golden Corral.

Go to a park and just lie there whilst listening to your Ipod.
