Does getting up early help depression?

I usually wake up around noon-ish. On the weekends when I don't work, would waking up earlier (8 am-ish) help depression?

Well, to be honest, I'm not exactly sure.
However, by sleeping in on the weekends when you do not work, you are resetting your 'internal time clock'. Your body gets in a schedule of when to go to bed, and when to go to sleep, and when you disrupt that, you may feel less awake or have less energy the next morning, or some other effects can be experienced.

With the depression problem, I can't give you a solid answer, but maybe trying to go to bed at the same time every day and wake up at the same time also. By you waking up at noon, I expect that go to bed at a later time (yes?) on those days. Going to bed at a later time can cause you to feel more groggy or in a worse mood. If you go to sleep before midnight, that is the smartest choice because based on scientific research, sleeping before midnight is when the rest actually counts the most, and therefore getting as much as you can before 12 A.M, would suit you.

Getting up early might help you, but also getting enough sleep in the process might also help, or at least make you feel more rested, therefore elevating your mood.

I hope I helped!

Definitely. Sleeping in can make you groggier for the rest of the day. By falling asleep at a reasonable time, you can wake up earlier without feeling the need to continue sleeping in. Simply being in the morning air and waking up at the same time of everyone else can definitely improve your mood.
