What is the cure to depression ? |
i think all depressed people just need hope.. they need to see that things will get better.. in your opinion whats the cure to depressed people ? a hug I suffer from depression myself... I have found medication to be helpful. There are always "environmental variables" to consider like relationship issues, unemployment, stress at work, etc. which you should generally take care of before you decide if you actually naturally depressed. I have found that even when everything was going good for me I was still really depressed. The medication helped me and with very little side effects. For the past 3 months I have been off of them due to no health insurance and everything has seemed to go downhill since then. well of course there are medications but those can often make things worse than better... i think lifestyle changes could help to deal with depression. eating better or exercising could help you feel better physically while things like meditation or counseling could help mentally. maybe avoiding or cutting out things in ones life that cause feelings of sadness... maybe a support system would work? someone or a group of ppl who could help you {or whoever} deal with the reasons your depressed. maybe its the cause of something from ones childhood or a relationship that went bad... in some cases you are right in other no. Some people need medication to help them. I take Effexor and have been on Lexapro and Cymbalta. I am depressed but I don't think it's as much a chemical thing with me as it is a life issue(s). I have no job, no girlfriend and do not see that changing anytime soon. Oh and I'm 29. So I feel like the world is against me. I also take care of my grandparents who I love but watching and taking care of 2 very old and sick people all day everyday will drive happiness out of your life. My physiologist says I need some positive things to happen, that I have had so many negative things happen over the last year that there is little wonder why I'm depressed. So for me hope would be good. The thing is what do you do when you have no hope and can not see any hope in sight. I have a BA degree and now I am going back to school this fall just to have something to do. Maybe that will help me. Who knows? Some people do need medication and I have seen it work really well in people before, but not with everyone. if your brain chemicals are ****** up, you cant just "have hope"...the low level of "happy"chemicals make you feel like you are being attacked by your own brain. you have no hope. your chemicals just wont let that occur. well doing something they enjoy or having a special dish they like is good for short time depression...but when its long time like when a family member or pet dies they may just need some time alone and then to get back out in the world....telling them that even if the persons not on earth, they are still in their heart....usually that can atleast get them out of the house....if its REALLY bad they will need counciling/ theropy, they will never fully get over it but it can get their life back on track. Meds for many cases AND/OR a brainstorm action list of all the things that one feels that are negative factors in one's life written down- then instead of moping and feeling like sh*t just get busy and actively work on correcting the things on the list starting with the easiest things on the list like do the stinkin' dishes! etc. "Don't worry - be happy!" I'm kidding. This is the type of stuff my ex-husband used to say to me. Getting exercise releases endorphin in your brain and it's kind of like an opiate that reacts on pleasure centers in your brain and that always helps. You may want to see a counselor or a doctor. Hope. Time,Willingness, Attitude,Guideness,Under standing friends, Loved ones,Counsling & sometimes medication and a prayer will help as well. P.S. Get a friendly pet.Pets are awesome for depressed people. I should know! a relationship . When im sad, i call my friends, and it always make me feel better. love, sex, fun, work, doing things you love, everything good. And teresa people who are depressed are not weird, everyone goes through depression in different parts of their lives. therapy and knowing that there is no problem that cant be resolved. There's more to it then that. Sometimes they need medication and/or counselling. My friend has depression and her boyfriend always cheer her up : ) staying active, interacting with lots of people, having a job you enjoy, doing things you love to do :) daliy walking 2 miles eat right fruits /veg lots and if that dont help seek dr.s help and meds. that worked for me Spending time with friends and going to roadtrips! :) I guess, going out there and having fun.
