How do I know if my antidepressant is causing my depression or not? Yes, I agree with Rose. Probably the meds. I had that happen to me with an old drug and did not know there were others that are better . I tried Lexapro and not all those side effects after about a month. Everyones body is different. Sometimes those sideeffects are in the beginning but pass after a month or so. Talk to your doc. he or she will know best. Good luck. Call your doctor immediately. The purpose of antidepressants is to alleviate depression. Whether the increase is due to the med, adjusting to the med, or worsening depression is not something anyone here can say. Besides, all that matters is that the problem has grown, which is more than adequate reason to call your doc for an appointment now. It is unlikely that an antidepressant is CAUSING depression. At the very least, it may not be helping at all, but if it's an SSRI chances are you are imaging any change for the worse. You where put on antidepressants for depression. But know you have to find want meds work. If you feel more depressed you have to talk to your doctor right away. Because you can become suicidal. If your depression is worse now than before you started taking the medication, then it is probably the medicine's fault. Call your doctor. |
