How many of you would stick by your girlfriend/ boyfriend husband/wife if they were suffering with depression?

And why? Or why would you not?

definatley, for better or worse, maybe ill be depressed at some point and i wouldnt want him to leave me

One of the things that brought me through my depression was my family and friends' support. It has always been so much easier to realize that my life is worth living and that I am a good person when there is someone there by my side.

If my boyfriend, or any of my friends or family, began to go through depression, I would be there by his side to help him through it. If you care about a person, you will be there no matter what.

I hope if you are in this situation that you will step back and consider how much you can help this other person.

I wouldn't stay by someone forever who had serious, chronic depression but refused to get help. It's not so much the depression, it's the decision to remain depressed which hurts others too that would ultimately drive my choice.

I wouldn't stay with anyone who choose self-medicating with street drugs or alcohol over seeking professional help. To be honest, I wouldn't live with anyone who was into street drugs or alcohol, so again the depression is incidental.

I would stay by a partner who did seek help even if the help wasn't fully effective or didn't work well. That's a person doing the best they can, and there is no more you can ask of another.

Definitely. Why? Because i know the feeling of needing someone, really really needing them, and then them just leaving and abandoning you. You have to stick by them, no matter what. A loved one abandoned me when i needed him most- i was feeling really really suicidal and he told me he was tired of hearing me cry and that he was leaving me. it was the worst feeling in the world, and i haven't been able to share my feelings with anyone ever since.

your b/f should be your best friend,so i would say they are supposed to stick by you when your suffering from depression.as for the married part....the vows state....for getter or worse,till death do us apart...so yeh i would say most definitely yes.

i can tell you one thing! my ex left me alone when i was suicidal, after losing my parents last year. and now i'm getting devorced. so i'm answering the question for him. his answer is no. because she is too needy

always and forever if you love a person you have to be there for them to help them through everything and they should do the same for you
