Have you ever used Paxil for anxiety or depression?

How was the experience of using this drug for you? Did it help? How were the side effects? Was it difficult to get off of the drug when you wanted to? Any other advice?

I am currentl been on it taking Paxil and have been on it for years.

I've also tried other drugs like Zoloft of Risperidol, but Paxil works the best for me by far. It works pretty quickly once you start and it really helps keep the unpleasantness away (I take it for Anxiety).

This is not a drug you can get off easily however. You will definately have to be weened off. When you miss, you get flu-like withdrawl symptoms. Actually, I stupidly missed the other day and I felt awful, which only made me worry until I realized I skipped a day. After I took it again, I could sleep it off. You feel naseaous mostly when you miss and I have occasionally felt this odd "shock" feeling like in my head, but it seems to be common when you try to get off (I've read on the internet about it because it scared me the first time, but it's only happened I'd say 4 times ever).

However, when you're on the drug, I feel no side effects at all. Maybe the first day you might feel weird, but I am so glad I am on it. It's the only thing I've ever been comfortable with.

The only advice I can give you is don't miss! It's very difficult to get off, the doctor has to lower the dose by 5 or even .5 at a time. And you're on it a while after you stopped needing it. When I was 12, I stopped taking it for 3 years before I needed it again, and I stopped cold turkey that time---and I can't picture how I did it. I guess it was because I get nervous taking medicine, and I wanted to be off pretty badly. It can be done, but like I said, you feel flu-like. Feel though, you're not actually sick so you don't throw up or anything.

Still, I feel very positive about Paxil. It's the only meds I'd want to take and I feel great while on them.

Have you tried other alternatives to medicine? This was once an option for me. I am very high strung as they say and I decided not to take meds. Instead I stopped eating or drinking things with caffeine and started exercising more. I know that this won't work for everyone but it has really helped me. I decided to do this because I read how you have to come off medication like this. You have to ween yourself off slowly and this worried me as well as the side effects.

paxil was worse than other drugs for side effects, it's so bad about effecting your sex life that there is a phrase called,
"taking a paxil vacation". This is when a user stops taking it thursday through monday so they can have an orgasm over the weekend. it's best feature is that it gets out of your body quicker than most.
