Besides medication, what are other ways to deal with depression? |
I take 100mg of Zoloft everyday but lately it doesn't seem to be working. I'm sure my depression is mostly chemical. My life is great right now, maybe a little monotonous but still good. I have more money and more material things then I've ever had. Most importantly, I have family and friends and they have their health. So what's wrong? You are right. It sounds like a chemical imbalance that has formed in your brain. The medication seems to be wearing off. I suggest that you try to switch to a different medication. However, be careful which one the doctor prescribes you. My stepmother took some anti-depressants which worked, but they had side effects that increase anger in people. Just listen to the doctor's advice and be careful. Hang in there! One suggestion, try reading "The Magic of Believing" or "You can Heal your Life" (excellent self help books/ with setep by step exercises) and get out and walk around your neighborhood everyday. The physical exercise will release endorphins and you will notice changes, make personal choices and see a new sense of determination in your outlook to being happier. These are a few things that worked for me and are inexpensive, drug free and effective. From your question what do you have to be depressed about? Pick yourself up each day and say that everything will be alright and that you feel alright. try and take a positive outlook each day and make yourself happier by just feeling better. Write. Or read. I entered a fanfiction ring and emersed myself in it so much that it helped me climb out of depression. Writing helped me express my feelings and reading the fanfiction distracted me. talking to peple really helps. especially people that know you, or sometimes its easier to talk to a therapist who desnt know you at all! they do help a lot to deal with depression and even find the reason for it find a place like sea side, just shout as loud as you could......you will feel much much better after doing this..pls try. I'm not sure what's wrong. |
