Is medication the only remedy for depression?

I need to know for a friend.

it really dependsv on the severity of the depression excersice and healthy eating help aslo St johns wort but everything takes motivation and thats hard when your feeling low xxx

In my experience, there are circumstances (i.e. events, friends, etc.) which may lift people spirits for a little while, but the crash is even harder when they come back to reality. First and foremost, your friend should be evaluated by a medical professional to determine if she (or he) is truly depressed. These things tend to be chemical imbalances in a person's brain and are very treatable with the right medication, although the right dosage can take a bit to figure out.

You dont' have to rely only on meds for depression. You can use vitamins, herbal meds...like st. johns wort.

But to be honest it is best if they see a doc first to see if it is depression and no something else...then they can look for something that will help them out.

Good Luck

Absolutely not! There are great Dr.'s that do all types of therapies and positive reinforcements as well as natural medicines and therapies. I would just google it or also have your friend see a therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist for other suggestions.

depends on the person. exercise and diet helps some people more. there's also vagus nerve stimulation and sometimes b12 shots or thyroid meds help. it all depends on the person

No, theres other ways. you can go out with friends...or what i like to do..is eat some comfort foods! i had marshmello fluff on one side then chocolate fuge on the other... its a good thing to chear people up!
