How to get to the root of depression?

I have had it for awhile and it causes daily problems with my life. Along with anxiety.

Find a good therapist.
Ask family and friends for a referral and you will get a few names.
Make sure you like who you see, because there are many, many therapists and you may not like the one you initially choose to see.
You will know when you found the right one by how comfortable you are and if it is easy for you to open up to him. I say him because I truly believe men should see men and women should see women. It's very hard to tell, from your avatar, whether you are male or female.
Make sure the doctors, (who prescribe the meds), connected with your therapist are also people you feel safe with.
Good luck!

The root is all in your brain its the neurotransmitters being blocked pretty much, your brain is sending those happy signals so you're depressed, exercise, better diet laughing, sunlight are all good ways to produce these chemicals anxiety is caused by a lot of the same triggers if those things don't work see a doctor if the depression/anxiety lasts more than a couple of weeks and is chronic, they'll prescribe things to help "fix" the chemicals in your brain

therapists and doctors may help. they might mask your symptoms. They might give you meds to cover you sadness, but the reasons and roots of your depression, they can't heal that. Only God can. You are missing something in your life. You aren't happy. Just please, think about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUI1SeYkf...
