Depression>??

for a few years i have felt very down about 80 percent of the time even though my life isnt that bad im 22 i just am sad all the time for no reason i have a hard time sleeping, nightmares, cant hold my head up in public, when i do lay down i have a hard time wanting to get out of bed, daily thoughts of death (not that i have seriously considered this) Would you consider this severe depression? how can i start to snap out of this? what do i do?

i hear you. ive been suffering with moderate-severe depression since i was 11 or 12. im 17 now, and still depressed as ever. i have come to find out that therapy simply just doesn't work for me. i can NOT talk to people i do not know, all the therapists i've had are pretty much quacks. i take lexapro and wellbutrin to keep me sane. most days i'm okay, but others im in tears basically all day. my mother always asks me whats wrong, even if i am content because sometimes i show no emotion. when im on the phone i sound either depressed or like a man (its funny actually lol). depression isn't somethign you SNAP out of. just go to your doctor and talk to them about it. find a therapist you actually LIKE and is easy to talk to. one who actually listens to you.

good luck battling your depression, eventually it will pass, you will be happy again :)

// p.s. i normally think about death. if i'm alone i start to think about death and the life after, what would happen if i were to die, who would care, how life would change, or if it even would. if i were to die, what would happen with me... etc etc. its not a fun thing but i can't help it. if you need someone to talk to i'm here. depression SUCKS but its nice to talk to someone else who has it.

Well i too have suffered from depression. It is hard, and i understand exactly how your feeling! I've been there!

Depression doesn't always need to be triggered by a huge event, it can sometimes be all the little things that pile on each other.
I often felt lonely and sad, and misunderstood. So to solve this i wrote in a journal to express my feelings. Keeping what your feeling inside only makes it worse. You should express yourself, and how your feeling to others, the one you feel comfortable with. Some times it helps, to have someone who just listens to you.

Also improve your thoughts, don't always put yourself down. Self esteem plays a big difference in depression. Start helping yourself, not hurting yourself.
If your religious, religion is a very good way to get rid of depression. God got me through a lot of problems in my life and I'm sure he'd help you to. Praying can relieve a lot of stress.
Depression isn't easy, and it can sometimes be a long road to recovery. Hopefully, with a little luck you'll get out of the rut. But seriously, sometimes all you need is a hug. Surround yourself with fun and friends and reminds yourself that you have something in life to look forward to!

I would say you suffer from major depression. It's a mental illness - a chemical imbalance of the brain. So tell your brain to put those chemicals back into balance and you will snap out of it just like that. Seriously, nowadays, we are grateful that science has brought us oodles of excellent medications that can restore balance.
See a doctor for a referral to a psychiatrist and take care.

There are chemical imbalances that can cause this "blah" "down" feeling. Yeah, there are pills, but screw pills. They mess you up; make you feel better for a bit, then terrible after the effects wear off.

You just need to add some clarity and positivity into your life. Look into Krishnamurti, he is an Indian guru, and he talks about clearing your head through meditation and just being you.

Exercise, get your heart moving. Honestly, endorphins are the best drug out there.

:)

Have a nice day.

Get to a therapist, you may have a chemical imbalance in the brain or talking to someone could help you clear the cobwebs. It cant hurt, try it!If it is depression a professional therapist will know and prescribe anti-depressants.Forget the quack hypnotists and over the counter miracle cures.Therapy feels good.

I also think I may have depression, and I did some researching on it,and it sounds like you probably do have depression.you CAN'T "snap out of it",cuz u cannot control it,it is a chemical inbalance in the brain. You should go to your dr.to get a depression test thing.there is medicine for depression. I think I also may have depression as well,so I know how u feel, even tho I don't have all of the symptoms you described.
Hope you feel better!depression really sucks:(

I know exactly how you feel, & i'm wondering the same thing about my self! I 'm 22 too, & i have a really good life, but i'm always stuck at home, not having almost any contact with any one for days, the only person i talk to is my li baby, he's 3!!! Cause my hubby is always at work! I always wondered if i was the only one that felt like this, now i know that i'm not the only one! Hopefully some one else gives u a real good answer, so i can refer to it too :)

its okay ,dont fret !! things could have been much WORSE , believe me.

Want to try something DIFFERENT ???
just do the following RIGHT NOW ;

1--chant OM (OM as in HOME but without the 'H')repeatedly, forget everything just do it NOW !!!!!!!
doing this for 5-10 mins will give a sense of power within you!!!

if you find this useful let me know ,i will tell you a more stronger method.

note: women durimg their periods are not to chant OM but they can chant HARI

this i say to you on basis of teachings of 'param pujya ASARAMJI bapu'
