Depression and asking for help. |
I've been dealing with some really hard things in my life within the past week, and it's really hard to take. I've been crying non-stop, I really feel like I'm going to die because of the sadness. I'm 14 years old, and I want to talk to someone, a professional about everything. But I'm extremely scared to ask for help because I'm embarrassed that I need help. But I know I can't live my life so upset and hurt, so how can I ask my mom to get me help? Step 1: Ensure your emotion is controlled daily. Don't over reacted, stay calm and don't get worry easily You should not be embarrassed. Take it slow. All you need is just a little patience. Know that none of what you're feeling is your fault. You might benefit from professional help by a therapist. That way you can get advice on what's causing your sadness; and the therapist can point you in the right direction. What made you so sad? A boyfriend issue? A death in the family? It's important to know why you're so upset. It's okay to ask for help. I dealt with an eating disorder and i was super embarresed about it but i talked to my mom about it and she signed me up for therapy. The first day i wanted to dissapear in the waiting room because i was so embarrassed but once i started getting help i felt so much better. Dont be afraid to get helpits worth a try. And i hope you feel better soon If you just sit down and not do anything nor tell anyone , obviosly no one will help..being embarrased has nothing to do with a problem that someone has and is seeking help to solve it...........A person should be embarrased only in one condition ( as my doctor says ) : if he has done something wrong while being aware of it.................. Don't be embarassed about having to see someone about a few problems in your life. Millions of people do it all the time. Confront your mom with how you feel, how some counseling would benefit you and how it would make you feel a whole lot better about your problems. talk to ur doctor or a teacher or a guidance counselor. t hey are trained for that stuff and can help you prepare what to say to your mom or give u someone to talk to without your mom. unfortunately since ur only 14 your parents will have to get involved at somepoint. tell her exactly what you just told us we the total strangers, trst me there is no one that is gonna ever love you more than your own mom. Assuming that you and your mom have a close relationship, talk to her. Speaking as a parent and grandparent, my kids, as they were growing up, knew that I would always listen to them because I loved them. Oh, there were times when they did something wrong and were afraid to come to me. However, I would let them know that they may hide it from me now, they may hide it from me tomorrow, but parents always have a way of finding out when there is a problem. They found it a lot easier to come to me right away and we would work together to find a solution. |
