Can therapy only cure depression?

Can therapy only cure depression?

I assume you are wondering if meds are effective. The answer is, they are for many people but not everyone. Some people respond better to medication, some to therapy, some to neither. There are also other treatements that are much rarer, like electroconvulsive therapy The best results are combining meds with therapy.

So short answer, no, therapy is not the only cure for depression.

No. It's important to continue your medications prescribed by your doctor as they will help the physical symptoms of depression. Therapy such as counseling is just as important. Work with your health care professionals and you can get better in time. Also, something that works for me, when things get a bit overwhelming, play some music to relax and better yet, dance to it!

Are you asking if therapy can only cure depression and not any other condition? I think you want to know whether therapy is the only cure for depression. Depression is often the result of a seratonin depletion and can be very successfully treated with seratonin reuptake inhibitors like Paxil, Prozac, and others in that family. Sometimes, therapy is used adjunctly with antidepressants, but is often abandoned once the medication kicks in (usually within two to three weeks).

Yes but only if you do what the therapist tells you to. Just showing up does not do it. I also would suggest getting a "life coach" to help reinforce the therapy techniques.
Another thing to think about is seeing a dietitian since they too can help you understand how/what to eat to make you feel (and look) better.

Counselling and psychological support can cure mild depression. For moderate to severe depression, the doctor will prescribe some medicine.
