Can depression hit a 13 year old?

i think my little cuzin rei is depressed because lately she has had had alot of aes and panes and all she seems to want to do is sit around and cry, plus it seems her sense of style has gone down the tupe all she ever wears is black and grey

am i depressed?

oops i ment

is she depressed?

My 8 year old daughter has depression, and ADHD. She is on medication for her depression so yes I would say an 11 year old can be depressed. I hope she gets the help she needs.

Depression can hit anyone at any age at any time. Sometimes there is no explanation. The pain can be just as physical as it is emotional. She needs comfort right now.

It could very well be because two relatives die. If those were the first two major deaths she's experienced that could be a reason, or she could just be having a hard time accepting it.

Show her love, care, and attention and I'm sure she'll pull through it. If she starts showing any suicidal behavior make sure to get her a therapist or have her talk to someone with training. Watch her behavior. If she becomes self destructive that's a sign she's on her way to possible suicide.

I wish you and her the best of luck. She's lucky to have a caring cousin like you.

It sounds like it,Pretty boy. You ever ask her how she is? Ask her how she is doing in school? Depression can hit people of all ages. And this is truly sad too. So many kids have their lives ahead of them. But when depression hits,It seems that they just want to end it. What you should do is to hang out with your cousin more. Get to know what she likes and become more of a friend to her. Try to get her to open up to you. I don't know you very well,But I think that you could be just what the doctor ordered for your cousin. Pretty boy,If you ever get feeling down. I hope you know that I'd be more than happy to help you. My name is David and it is an honor to meet you. Sometimes all we need is a sympathetic ear to listen. Is she pretty? If so,Compliment her on her beauty. Girls like to hear that. They like to be told how wonderful they are. And I'd like to say,That you are one wonderful cousin for doing this. Hope she knows how lucky she has to have a cousin like you. Have yourself a goodnight and God bless. Bye for now.

Well, given what you have provided, I can say she certainly sounds like she is. But that's based on my limited experience and understanding of depression.

I'd suggest that you encourage her to at least speak to a qualified counselor to get an idea of where she is at. No matter how good our intentions may be, we aren't the best qualified people to help her understand herself and what she is going through.

We can only support her effort to get better. But that's the thing. One thing I do know is that someone has to want to get better in order to get better. Doing it for someone else doesn't really accomplish much good. Perhaps in rare circumstances it does, but by-and-large, my experience has been that it's better that she do it because she wants to.

well she can be very depressed. going through puberty AND the death of family members, come on that's gotta be very hard on her. just help her out and comfert her and help her get through her depression. good luck! :)

Yes, you can get depressed at that age. The first time I remember being depressed I was 12. And I have been on anti-depressants for those same symptoms now that I am an adult.

She sounds like she could be. Maybe just try talking to her (not about it directly, but just about how she's feeling), or try to get her interested in something. I appreciate your concern for her

most likely it's just the 'emo phase'.
wait a couple of years and it'll go away.

A 13 yo can be depressed. I canot understand what you are saying with the rest of it.

well she could be i used to have deppesion and im eleven but dont worry it will go away
