I suffer from depression & anxiety problems?


I'm seeing my psychiatrist on Thursday. Are anti-depressants really the best treatment?

my friend suffers from anxiety and depression, after seeing her psychiatrist and taking the medication i saw her really change from being shy, sad and lonely to happy and outgoing... it was quite amazing, i think you should at least give them a try, hope it goes well :)

No. I have depression and anxiety, as well. Been on almost every anti-depressant and anti-anxiety pill under the sun. You're just going to have to face your anxiety triggers, and learn not to fear them. That is really hard to do. You may want to try relaxation techniques, which any qualified therapist will go over with you. It works best for me.

me too. i am not against antidepressants but i want to avoid them if i can find alternative ways to treat the problems since these meds come with unpleasant side effects.

i was just searching the net and i found that exercising can actually help with depression and anxiety. exercise raises your serotonin level, the chemical responsible for making you happy. therefore, starting tomorrow, i'm going to wake up early and start exercising along with seeing a therapist to see if my problems can be alleviated without any meds. try doing that for a few feeks and see if it makes you feel better.
