Are mood swings a symptom of depression?

I'm just getting mood swings at the moment which I didn't use to get. One minute I'll be fine and the next I'll be down. But its literally happening throughout the day.

I definitely dont have bi polar. I have seen counsellors and none said that I have it. Plus I just did an online test for it and scored 9 when you need to score 22 or higher to actually have it

There are many stressors associated with mood swings, like loses, including money, work, relationships, friends, communication with family, pregnancy, bodily imbalances or brain function. Seek a counselor or psychiatrist who can suggest what may be causing your symptoms. If it is depression, it's treatable if you're willing to share the whole story, not just some with one counselor, and other parts with another counselor. Hormones are always in play throughout the day, causing ups and downs, just like sugar levels, which can effect mood too. There is the possibility that you are hypoglycemic, but that's just a guess. Your doctor can find out for sure. Good luck.

it could be bi-polar,which makes someone's moods vary throughout the day. it could be depression, but usually depressed people are tired, lazy and unmotivated and lay around sad a lot.
it sounds more like bi-polar though, and i would see a counsler who will put you on meds and have therapy sessions. please contact one asap.

You need to talk to your doctor about it. While some mood swings can be due to age, hormones, stress, etc...it can also be something more serious. Mood swings are commom with bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorders, depression, etc. Best thing to do, talk to a dr. about it.

Yes they can be... They can also be caused by many other things though so don't worry. You might want to meet with a shrink though...

I have seen you depressed all the time on yahoo and all the time taliking about your ex who is violent too......

your probably just going through life experiences which is probably making you feel that way .
