How to distract yourself from depression?

Is there a good way I can distract myself from depression? It's the weekend, so there's no school to distract me.Any suggestion on how to even get rid of depression?

Thanks

Recover from depression one step at a time
Recovering from a depressive episode or managing depression long-term takes energy and planning. You may think, how am I going to find energy or motivation when I feel so poorly?
Depression can strip you of your self-esteem, self-confidence and motivation. Approach this in the same way you would approach a friend, loved one or child. You would approach helping that person in a reasonable, caring manner. Do the same for yourself. The key is to begin with small steps.
Say you want to begin exercising, attending to bills or mail, increasing your socialization or housework. Would you tackle all of these simultaneously? Of course you wouldn't. Pick one that is a priority to you. You then will need to set up a reasonable plan as to how to proceed with accomplishing your goal.
Let's go with exercise first. Overall, your goal may to improve your health. Your goal may be to walk a mile but how would you do this? You would train by walking one step at a time. The idea is to be your own cheerleader, be kind to yourself. You deserve to feel good and to be happy. Set up reasonable goals and then honestly rate them using the 1-10 scale. It is OK if you need to change your goal. Find a support person to share your goal with. Studies show that this will make it more likely that you will follow through. Once you have accomplished your first goal, you will find your self-esteem and confidence are boosted. Don't stop now, set up your next goal. Set your self up for success! You can do it!

Depression is often caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain--if it 'truly' is depression. You'd need to see a psychiatrist to be properly assessed and diagnosed.
But as for right now--this weekend--things to do to keep yourself active?
Instead of thinking of the whole weekend--just think about an hour at a time. Think of things you enjoy doing. Do you like to do sports? walk? dance? do gymnastics? Do you like to read? Or write poetry or short stories? How about drawing/ doing artwork? Do you like to sing?
Do you have any pets? Walk them, play with them, sing to them!
Do you like to do jigsaw puzzles? Or word puzzles?
Can you go to the library? The park?
There is always music and tv! Do you play cards?
How about getting together with a sibling/cousin/friend/neighbour?
Do you like to cook or bake? You could offer to help your mom or dad with washing the car--or doing some laundry? Are your grandparents nearby? You could go and visit them--help them with stuff around their yard and house--they'd love it.
Could you offer to walk a neighbor's dog--or help watch their kids?
Getting involved in activities in which you are around other people is always good. Isolating yourself doesn't help with depression. You have to force yourself to get out and do things--even if it is to ride a bike or walk around the block.
Think of what you like to do--hobbies, sports, crafts, etc!
best wishes to you.

Exercise can really help..

I understand that when you are depressed the motivation to actually get up and do it is awful... and not to mention your energy levels are low...

but once you actually start to do it, it can seriously help... your endorphines kick in (its a natural drug) and it can help give you MORE energy....

ANother good thing to do is be around high energy level people who are positive... sometimes the mood and energy levels can rub off on you.

What works for me:
Exercise.
Call a friend.
Hang out with friends who are positive people.
Volunteer.
Do something fun.
Start a project you like.
Start a project that will get something accomplished, like clean your closet or paint your room.
Organize something.
Go window shopping.
Work in a garden.
Join a club that meets on weekends.
Do a puzzle - crossword, logic problem, etc.
Eat healthy food. Avoid too much sugar and bad carbs- it makes you feel better at first and then you get a major drop and feel worse than ever.
If nothing works, get to a counselor. You might need help figuring out what's causing you to be depressed. That's the first step toward ending depression. Good luck!!

its good that you realize that you ARE depressed. i know, since you know what it is, that you dont like that feeling. dont let that be your comfort zone cause its not comfortable at all. find something that makes you happy.

get over whatever it is that makes you feel this way

Yes, go see your doctor. The doc will most likely put you on some type of medication and refer you to a therapist. This really helps and it's not a bad thing.

music baby! music!
