Any new ideas of how to dig oneself out of a deep depression? |
I just lot my job and have no prosects in sight, I am divorcing my husbands, my friends are too busy with work/spouses to spend time with me and I can't even get motivated to get out of bed. I went and saw my psych yesterday and he put me on new meds which of course haven't kicked in yet. What do I do in the meantime to stop from feeling suicidal? HELP!!!!!!! Feeling sad when contemplating the end of life is a natural response, especially when you loose a job and family & friends, but this sadness is not depression. A person who is depressed may lack interest in what is going on, see only the bleak side of life, or feel no emotions. A dying person and his family should talk to the doctor about such feelings so that depression can be diagnosed and treated. Treatment, usually combining drugs and counseling, is often effective, even in the last weeks of life, by improving the quality of the time remaining. Sounds like your experiencing anxiety, which is more than normal worry. Continue to take your meds., oppoximately 3 months you should be feeling "whole" once more. Be honest with your therapist, really tell him how your feeling. Exercising helps, pets are wonderful, volunteering, working with the elderly, teaching a class in your spare time, go camping, swiming, canoeing, fishing, listening to soothing music, window shopping, joining groups online, international penpals, meditating, taking deep breathes, in... and out..... s l o w l y and try to focus and think only on your breathing. If you need any support I'm here. You will make it! God Bless Go fix yourself a tuna sandwich with butter, then while you are eating it and drinking a glass of water, check out www.hufa.org. Especially the symptoms page. It may give you a hint on a possible cause of your depression. Hey come on!! This is life, you have to move on..... You have got free time, you should think about what you really want in life, like maybe speculate about a new future or something! Don't feel sad, I know its easy to say and tough to follow! But you just have to fight it out girl!! well i don't know exactly what you are feeling. but i've felt suicidal before. just try to think positive, find something to get you out of bed in the morning. find some new friends, anything to keep you motivated & happy. Exercise does wonders! Start with walking. Join a gym and take classes. It is a great way to meet healthy new friends. Talk to people, anyone. Talk to me. I've been there. In the last 2 years, I became crippled (spine), lost my job, had to fight with social security, die and come back from a drug reaction, have both of my shoulders rebuilt, then have my wife of 11 years divorce me because she didn't want to be married to a cripple, move out start over and only see my kids every other weekend. On top of that I already suffered from PTSD due to my 16 years in the military. It SUCKS! But you can get through it, you really can. Suicide is never the answer sweetie, it really isn't!
