Are tanning beds considered "full-spectrum" lights and thus helpful in combating depression? NO! As someone who has SAD, I can tell you from experience, research, and conversations with professionals that tanning does not count as using full-spectrum light. If you are looking the "look-better, feel-better" route, go for it. If you are looking for light therapy, check into an actual full-spectrum lamp. theyve been known to help with depression. Never heard of this yet, but getting a tan will make you look better and feel better, thus increase your confidence that do away with depression. The lighting does help with depression. I learned that in beauty school, but can't remember exactly the reasoning behind it. That's why some people have depression or more severe depression in the winter months. not only do they help with depression but pneumonia and arthritis. I would have to agree with Tuesday here. Invest in a SAD lamp. As someone whose family is very prone to skin cancer, I also think that losing parts of your face tends to increase depression! Be careful with those things! |
