I am 19 years old would i qualify for medicaid because i have depression?

i am trying to find health insurance for my self...i am 19 with out a job and i have major depression...i have been trying to get in for counseling but i cant afford it....woould i qualify for medicaid

No...At least you shouldn't.

If you were out being productive and creative, you just might not have depression.
You may be able to qualify for state medical assistance. Look it up on the internet and apply wherever you need to go to apply. I have no idea what state you are in. There are also social service programs out there that may be able to help you also. Just need to search for them.
hmmm.. you might or you might not, but try going to some volunteer counsiling. i dont know if youe it where you are but we have it here where i live.

if not, go to your medicaid place and ask. im sure the would not mind telling you.

hope i helped ~Gi
Keeping busy is a way to get away from depression. And doing something for someone else takes you outside yourself. So you really should try those first. Do you really want to depress the rest of us by increasing our payments to Medicaid?
You should of explained you problem for depression...........do you have confidence in yourself...............?? Their are a lot of people here on Yahoo answers .........that may be able to help you..........I hate to see you on medicine.......they will drug you up.................and you may qualify for medicaid................go to SSI...................and ask them.............................
i think it is terrible that you have to pay, there should be free treatment for u as there is in the u.k
Try your local or state health department, they usually have discounted counseling and medication. Also check with local hospitals, sometimes you can get into support groups for free. You would have to check with your local Medicaid office to see if you qualify.

A lot of people will tell you to just be happy and productive and your depression will go away; HOWEVER, true depression is a medical condition that can be hard to deal with. Anything you can do wihout medication, such as counseling, is advisable. Please try to get some help.
