Should my psychotherapist be male or female? I'm female, but my best friends are men. Diagnosis: depression


My current therapist is female. I'm not getting enough out of my sessions with her. I take 20 mg of Lexapro (an SSRI) daily. Thank you for answering!

i dont think male or female matter - what matters if you find a relaxed and easy atmosphere with this person who you can truly trust and feel open to discuss anything - seek another psychotherapist or give it another go -maybe you have only just started your sessions ?
