My husband is trying to quit his lortabs.he has been having really weird thoughts and bouts of depression?

does coming off these pills do this to him?

I think it is possible. This is from http://www.intelihealth.com/ih/ihtih/wsi...

Withdrawal from narcotics can be a serious and potentially life-threatening problem in people with pre-existing diseases. Symptoms of withdrawal include:

Anxiety
Irritability
Drug cravings
Rapid breathing
Yawning
Runny nose and excessive salivation
Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea
Sweating
Confusion
Muscle aches
Tremors
Loss of appetite
The severity of withdrawal symptoms correlates with the dosage of narcotic regularly used. The duration of narcotic use also plays a role. The longer someone has been taking a narcotic, the worse the withdrawal symptoms.

People who have been taking a narcotic drug for a long period of time, should seek the counsel of a health care professional for a plan for discontinuation. This is true regardless of whether the use has been for legitimate reasons or not.
Yes, Narcotic withdral...Lortab is a real big problem in SE KY...Stick by him; help him out....do not go for Methadone...it is just as addictive....both of you will be better off in a few weeks....Withdrawal will bother him but won't kill him...there are medicines like catapress that the doctor can prescribe to help with this
yes, he will have to take less of them each day, if he was taking four of them he needs to take three and a half for a couple of days then three a couple of days then two and a half a couple of days and so on until he is down to a half a day see how it works, you have to slowly remove addictive substance until you need it less and less!
I took lortab years ago for my back injury, and I can honestly say, I didn't have any stranger thoughts than I normally did. I didn't need to take less for a couple of days, and I had no with-drawls. Sounds like he is trying to use this as an excuse to not quit. For me it was not addictive in any way.
