Why is it when i have chest pains tingleling on the left arm and shortness of breath they say it is depression |
i really feel these symptons...but once i tell the doctor i have history of depression ..his face...looks like he says forget it you dont have anything wrong. i know i didn't INVENT these feelings and they are not just on my mind I REALLY DO FEEL THIS. Actually, it sounds like you're having anxiety attacks. The symptoms of anxiety attacks often mimic heart attack symptoms and can, therefore, be really frightening. It's sad that there's a doctor who doesn't seem to take you seriously and who makes you feel like you're just imagining your symptoms. My advice is to find another doctor and specifically ask about anxiety. There are medications that can help. Are you for real? Maby that's what has been wrong with me. I though I was having a heart attack or something. My Doctor Couldn't find anything wrong with me. But I have been kind of Depressed hear lately. Girl friend troubles. I recently lost my job. Your doctor might be on to something. I have had those 3 same symptoms. Any time someone claims these symptoms, it is very important to rule out cardiac disease. I don't know how old you are, but this is my opinion. RN What you describe are the classic signs of angina. That's blocked arteries to the heart. See a better doctor and hope it IS depression. Those symptoms, if they're not truly heart-related, are also symptoms of anxiety/panic disorder. The DR should have told you that. There's not doubt that you're perceiving these tingling feelings and shorness of breath, but they are just merely "perceptions" and not truly organic. Anxiety can be related to depression, fear, stress, etc. You may need an anti-anxiety medication. I never tell a Specialist that I have a history of depression. Once you do, its a waste of an appointment. I went to three dermatologist not knowing that my family doctor told them I had a history of anxiety. Well, I was so mad I went to a psychiatrist, got a letter saying that I had no anxiety, went to a fourth dermatologist and was diagnosed with one of the rarest forms of thermal induced pre-cancerous lesions that the other said was all in my head. There is definitely ill treatment of the mentally ill. I suggest you get two doctors. One for all your mental needs, the other for all your physical needs. For the shortness of breath, you may have mild, undiagnosed asthma, somthing to keep in mind. |
