If you obliterate or destroy your serotnin system with ssri's, it can take them 2 weeks to recover minimum depending on severity of damage. Seritonin syndrome can be cause by too much or too little seritonin either way shuts down the seritonin system making you more depressed than before, resulting in serotonin depletion or potentially occillating fluxuations in seritonin levels while the brain tries to compensate for the chemical imbalance caused by the pills.
