What do you do when you have panic disorder with symptoms of depressions and can't schedule an appt w/ a doc? |
I am so tired of feeling like a disabled person because of my panic disorder and the depression-like symptoms, and I WANT TO seek treatment, but everytime I call a mental health center, hospital or doctor, they are booked for at least a month. What do I do? I have a job, a life, and I need treatment ASAP. Emergency Rooms are not for treatment! Go to the Emergency Room, they can & will give you meds right away untill, you can get in to see your DR. Source(s): Personal Expierience have a klondike bar Call your doctor and ask them to call you when they have a cancellation. Don't take no as an answer. Not the emergency room- but there are many Urgent Care facilities. They will see you- give Meds and follow up with you until you can see a primary. Call them and book the next appointment they have available. In the meantime, try to relax. Maybe take something herbal (St. John's Wort is supposed to be good for depression), although don't take it if you're taking any prescription medicine for depression. make an appointment with anyone you want to see. I have the same two disorders and I had to wait 3 months for my first appointment. It's definitely worth it if you do go. Until you go, just try not to think about the last time you had a panic attack. Do anything but sit around and think really...the more you think the more it gets you into trouble. So until you can see a doctor, do everything other than what you do normally. Do exercising, hang out with your friends even if you don't want to, and eat healthier at least until you can get to someone. |
