What are some natural things I can do to get out of my depression?

I have to stay home with the kids for the summer so I can't work anymore and I just cry all the time(never let the kids see) and want to just sleep. Can you give me tips besides sun and Meds? I will not take meds. I have before for my depression and it only made me worse after I stopped. PLease help me!!! Oh and no I will not go to the conceler cause they never helped either. Thanks

Perhaps you should try a counceller again it took me 10 before i got the right one. If not there are helplines you could rant to. Take a break have a nice bath and relax take time out of your day to do this because otherwise you will be at tension level all the time.Other than that as people say diet, exercise and keep busy busy busy. Go for a walk every day find a nice park and go with your kids let them entertain themselves as much as they can its a lot less stressful; than the confines of the house.
Try Sam-e which you can get at the grocery store. In addition to that exercise and reward yourself with some time to yourself- an hour or two- to do something you always enjoyed. Try the library or community pool to go to with your kids, there must be more mom's that feel isolated like you. Good Luck.
kind of sounds like you really dont want to get help. if you arent willing to take said necessary steps to "get better" for yourself, do it for your kids. i know you say that they dont see you cry, but believe me, as a kid growing up with a depressed parent they know whats going on. maybe you didnt find the correct counselor for you. it hard to find a match. you have to find one that can give you insight on YOUR situation specifically---that is their job. maybe once you unload the stressors of your life on someone, it will leave you feeling better than when you kept everything inside.

good luck!
Keep yourself busy, do things you enjoy, drink St John's wort tea (not too much because it affects your sensitivity to sunlight). Get enough sleep. If all else fails, see a therapist.
Find something productive you can do. when a person isn't feeling like they are accomplishing things, it depresses them. Find something you enjoy that you can work on while watching the kids. Examples are scrapbooking, baking, writing, reading, crafts, stuff like that. Whatever you like. I know how you feel about counselling and meds. I've had both and both had made me worse off. Also, try to find the root of the depression. Obviously, there's something that's triggering those tears! Depression stems from a wrong response to something... when you find the source, try to change your perspective on it, and deal with it in a manner that will help resolve it, instead of dwelling on it and allowing it to grow in your mind. Hope I've been a help!
been depressed myself...
The best natural way to fight depression is exersize! When you exersize, your body releases endorphins, which are a natural mood enhancer. It may take up to a couple of weeks of consistant exersize to feel the full effects (but that is how long meds take too)! Also, small amounts of chocolate have been known to boost mood (just don't over indulge)! Not a bad idea to try to join an online chat group of other moms with kids your age to get some ideas of different things you can do with them. Sometimes breaking a routine that you are stuck in can help! Hang in there, this too shall pass.
