Do men and women deal with depression differently? |
Curious... is there is a big difference with how depression affects men and women? I know that a women has a better chnace then a man to get depression. Men always deal with different things such as having to be a man and not show his emotions. The reason for this is we have a cruel society tnhat says a man who cries is not a man he is a boy. This is very sad. They also say that men are less likely to get help cause they feel that they are not a man when they feel this way this leads to suicide. Below is a site that you can read about men and women and their differences when they are depressed. http://www.revolutionhealth.com/healthy-... Source(s): http://www.revolutionhealth.com/healthy-... Women are more apt to talk about the issues surrounding their depression. Men hold their feelings inside. Women are more apt to try and do something about their depression like for instance go see a counselor. Men act out more aggressively when dealing with depression Women deal with depression better coz we're chatterboxes.. while men tend to keep their problems to themselves, for fear that if they talk a lot about it, they'd be tagged as wimps. Thus, the suicide rate of men is higher than that of women. It always helps to have my girl friends around and talk a lot about what worries me. As a woman, I know this for a fact, tried and tested. I won't even need a shrink to help me get past my troubles. I only need my friends. men drink. women shop. or they can both eat. so, i guess the answer is YES and NO. Well i think depression is the same for both men and women; it's just that women deal with it different, men seem to hide it through drinking or just silence, women seek help through a doctor we don't hide it like men do. I guess generally women find it easier to talk about it and confide in their friends. Guys tend to bottle it up. But of course I'm different...I'm female... I cant really find anyone to talk about it and in all honestly i don't know if i want to 'face' it yet and talk to a professional - although this is killing me. I usually drink instead. |
