How can I deal with depression without the help of meds? |
I have no ins. and can't afford to pay for meds. Contact your local Mental Health facility. For people who do not have insurance, you are asked to provide a proof of income, whether it be your own, or the person whom you are living with. With that, they will be able to put you on a sliding fee scale where it could be as low as $5 or $15 for your visits. Also, they may prescribe you a medication that is on the $4.00 list at places like Walmart, etc. I wish you well and good mental health! You can change your moods if you change what you put into your body. I always recommend either "The Mood Cure" or "Potatoes Not Prozac." http://www.moodcure.com/ Try excersize. It has helped me. I believe that you can battle alot with talking about it, find a close friend or family member that you trust and just tell them everything you are feeling. I dont know your situation but i know this helped me alot. I actually found an online friend that helped me through alot, i guess having someone to talk to but not worrying about being face to face, not being judged. Sometimes i dont think meds are the best option anyways. I hope you find the strength and remember that there is always something worth fighting for in your life. TAKE CARE! Go see a counselor, a therapist, doctor, or a pastor/priest/rabbi/any religious leader. I have been dealing with depression for a while and see a counselor most of the time, and the days I see her, are my good days. They can help you change your thinking to more positive, help you change the things in your life that make you feel like that, and so much else. I understand you don't have insurance, but see if you can find someone who will work with you for a negotiated rate that works for both of you. If you can't do that, then go see a pastor or someone like that. No matter what try to see someone who does this for a living, not just a friend. As much as they want to help, they often do not understand and are not the best long term help. Best of luck. Life gets pretty rough at times, and I know how that feels. Try getting your mind off of whats depressing you. Go on a walk, join a sports team or book club. Go on little vacations where you are busy all the time. Get yourself involved in something. The key thing to do is getting your mind off of things. Try various methods to find what works for you. |
