What is the best diet to combat depression?

I am a vegetarian. I do take milk, and sometimes eggs, although I ideally want to quit eating eggs too.

So given these constraints, what is the best anti-depression diet for me!?

Thanks!

No white sugar. NO white flower. No MSG which is under 17 different code names. Such as natural flavors, flavorings, spices, etc. IT is a huge cause of depression and in so many things. Try less gluten in your diet. Use essential oils such as Neroli, Rosemary, Jasmin,. I like Neroli (orange blossom) it really works, though you may need to use it often. I carry it in my pocket. Also Being on the Internet can be draining. You can use stones to realign your energy fields, by holding them in your hands while you are on or off the net. I use amber, Kionite, citirne, and serpentine. They dissolve negative energies. Also take salt baths they rid the energy field of negative energies. Sometimes other subtle entities try to latch on to ones aura without us really knowing it and it can cause depression, and other negative emotions. People who are vegetarian are more awake and experience these things more, generally than those who are not. Though you may not be aware what is the cause of it. No eggs, union or garlic, being they put one in the mode of ignorance which causes depression and not offerable to God. , offer all of your food to God with love and devotion. Also do some Yoga it releases a lot of tension including emotional. All these thing help balance us as we go through this journey. Mainly keep the mind constantly attached to God Whom I call Krishna. Write if you have any other questions.

carbohydrates work for a friend of mine with depression. omega-3 fatty acid has been medically proven to work too but the only place that i know of that you can find it is in fish.
Sue Gilbert, a registered dietician has an excellent diet that can help combat depression. Good for you for being proactive!

The problem with that diet is that you don't get much protein and the body needs SO MUCH protein to be healthy-- at least 90 grams a day (an egg has 7 grams). The brain uses protein to make it's chemicals-- neurotransmitters. If you have a chemical imbalance, it's caused by a lack of amino acids. The problem with tofu is that it has terrible effects on the thyroid.

Try the book The Mood Cure for specific eating plans, and find out what supplements you can take to build up your brain chemistry and combat depression.

You can get omega 3s and 6s in flax seed. That said, I've never actually heard of somebody combatting depression solely with diet. Exercise, yes. Talk, yes. But not diet - though maybe it's like those natural food supplements that supposedly help lower cholesterol because they're chemically the same thing as statin drugs. Maybe there is food that mimics SSRIs.
