What else is there? (depression question)? |
So, I have frequent depressions that don't really need anything bad in life to start them. I guess it's fairly mild now because I still have the will not to let it get as bad as it's been during past episodes. Here's what I'm doing to fight it: - journaling - talking about it instead of bottling it up - trying to exercise regularly - getting out of bed as soon as I wake up instead of lying in bed all day - working on my thought patterns as I realize negative feelings come from negative thoughts - making an effort to do the things I enjoy - drinking less alcohol and more water - eating more fruits and veggies and less crap And yet, I still have this cloud of depression hanging over me. It's like my mood is very much removed from my thoughts and feelings. It feels very physical. I tried medication a few years ago, but I don't like it (was on it for 6 months) and besides I'm in a geographical location where proper med treatment is not available to me at this time. You sound like a very wise person who's willing to fight for her life. Sometimes you still need a little help though. I don't know where you live, but you probably do need an antidepressant, and some work better than others. If the one you took didn't help much, you should try another. It also helps to have someone to talk to, someone impartial that you don't have to worry about hurting their feelings, etc. And please, lay off the alcohol entirely. Most people get depressed after the buzz wears off. I hope that you at least have a good friend that you can talk to. Vocalizing your feelings is a big step in getting better, and isolating yourself is never good for you. Hang in there and take care. try new things dont give excuses like geographical location. consult yur doc regularly .cheer up the atmospher of the environment where you are staying has negative effect on your mind and emotion.try to avoid the scenes you hate in that area. Well...I don't know...try drawing or writing ([poems, stories, articles, and such]) You're welcome to IM me... my Yahoo is zalecyn@yahoo.com and my MSN is the_sharpie_fairy@hotmail.com I'll do what I can to help you out.
