Mushrooms, ecstacy, and depression?

I spent many occasions as a young man popping magic mushrooms and ecstacy, and have since learned the error of my ways. Nevertheless, I am left with bouts of crippling depression, feelings of insignificance and meaninglessness, that I know have been supplemeted by my drug use. Are there any resources I can use for psychiatric help?

Just something I have noticed on the research I have done on psychedelics is that moderate use of them, between 1 and maybe 5 trips, if they are in a controlled, comfortable enviorment, at a reasonable dose, and maybe done with meditation or yoga a year can be very good for mental health, but abuse of them can be very bad.

hope my tid bit of info can help you find a bigger answers.

Ecstacy abuse can be very bad for mental health. But it is over come, maybe you should consider one last shroom trip, it might be the only way to axis that part of your brain.

This is just a suggestion not a solution, but things like excersise, yoga, meditation, budhism are all very good for finding a peace of mind. Source(s): Read this

Just a thought: was it a depression that led you to take those drugs? Might you have already experienced feelings of insignificance and meaninglessness? Just a thought.
I believe a good psychiatrist will not prescribe medication until he/she knows your complete history.
I'd also focus on proactive, cognitive or behavior therapy- that which focusses on the now, once the facts of your history are understood.
If your financial resources are limited, join a mental health clinic, don't underestimate their ability, they have plenty of experience usually. The plus of the clinic is that they build support groups into their program, so that you'll have one-on-one talks with a psychiatrist and the support of a like-minded group as well. I think you should have a psychiatrist, in other words a doctor able to prescribe medication if you need it, AND a group. Both.
I would check for mental health clinics in your area.
They can diagnose you and get you the proper help.
I have mental illness .They don't know if it was brought on by drug abuse or genetics.
I would definitely talk with someone from the mental health profession.
I have a great life now and give alot of the credit to services that have been provided
Using the services of mental health clinic for 20 years.
probably due to drugs and also u probably got emotional and mental issues going on.
