Could changing depression medication to a generic variation have an affect after 3 weeks? Brand name and Generic drugs should have the same effect as long as they have the same components and dosage(s). Unless you're switching meds then you shouldn't expect any changes. Source(s): My mom. (She's a Psych Nurse) If you are changing to a generic version of the same drug... you shouldn't experience a change in the effect of the drug. If you are switching drugs alltogether, it may take a few weeks to get stabalized. Not at all if it is has the same medication's chemical components. |
