Possible to live with depression and....? |
It is possible to live with depression your whole life and not know it since you've never felt anything different? As I get older (29yrs) and more assertive I am starting to realize I have had the symptoms of depression my whole life!! Fatigue, lack of concentration, lack of interest in anything, no want to socialize...etc. I can't remember the last time I laughed for real. Has anyone experienced this or is just life? Yes it is very possible since most people who suffer from depression or bi-polar disorder (new term for manic-depressive) are never diagnosed. You need to talk to your doctor and he will do a slight exam and prescribe a small dosage of a antidepressent if needed and then re-examine you in a month. Most anti-depressents take about a month in your system to have any real effects, you will feel better pretty quickly only because your mind will let you believe that they are working even before anything changes in your body. It is something that you need to go and speak with a doctor about and not ignore or chalk up to just routine, you owe it to yourself. To go a little further into this subject most people still don't understand depression is NOT a state of mind or feeling but a chemical imbalance in your body. Depression can ruin your life if not treated over a long period of time. As you can probably tell this is a serious subject with me. Source(s): I have been diagnosed with bi-polar and have taken treatment for almost 20 years now. it is possible, but can it be u're not sleeping enough and are in an unfulfilling job? Maybe you just need to get out a little more. Its a possibility that you've lived with depression like this, but its possible that it can change. Try to change the different things you've realized, and if you still feel unsure about everything, go see someone who specializes in this type of thing professionally. =] Good luck! (and go read really funny things! xP) This could be due to a hard childhood... But, also this could just be how you are. You are an anti-social, lack of concentration and ect. just type of person. Don't change because you think something is wrong with you. Except who you are. Did you grow up in an un-happy family? Most people are at some time in their life happy-- Can you think back to a time when this was begining and what triggered your un -happy feelings? Are you alone ? are you living with people who are un-happy people-- Its good that you have realized that you are depressed-now the key is to work on doing something constructive to heal it. If yours friends and family are the causes of your unhappiness --then I would suggest you go to a church and join a group of new people who laugh and have fun. They have get to -gethers and offer friendship to the new comers. Find some one who makes you laugh and laugh at your self also. Life is too short to be un-happy.. Start looking for the people who will make you laugh- perhaps you have been dragged down by un-happy people--get away from people who drag you down--make friends with happy - laughing people. Learn to have fun. 29 is such a young age --don't waste a good life with these kinds of feelings. Join groups -- take courses in school -- painting-- church-- just get out there and start enjoying life. May God Bless you and Guide you to the people who can make you happy. Life today is kind of depressing to alot of people....I was very depressed afew years back...and I thought I was losing reality.....I did not realize it but I was not getting enough sleep...they did a thyroid test nd several things...I am now on anti depressant pills , thyroid med. and a very mild nerve pill....You have many good years ahead of you.....be thankful and find some sort of interest...if it is just writing down each day how you feel.. be honest with yourself and go back a week later and read how you felt...It may sound strange to you....write poems etc... |
